Introducing The Miniature American Shepherd!!!

In May of 2011 AKC and the new parent club of the Miniature American Shepherd,
MASCUSA announced the long awaited confirmation of AKC recognition.  

During the Mini's 40 + years of development, debate has been ongoing and often
very heated about whether the Mini's were a separate breed or a size variety of the
standard sized Australian Shepherd.  AKC and USASA have agreed that the Mini's
and Standards so close, that it is impossible to differentiate the two at a genetic
level.  That being said, all agree that it is now in the Mini's best interest to move
forward as a separate breed from the Australian Shepherd.  To help with the
distinction of the Mini's as a separate breed comes the name change to the
Miniature American Shepherd.

All of our 4 legged friends here at Battlecreek Kennels will soon be known as Mini
American Shepherds and be registered with the AKC!  This is a very exciting time
in the development of this incredible little dog, and we are very proud to be a part
of it.
